The Kiam BL002 is a 1.8 litre electric kettle with a glass jug, from the Bangladeshi kitchenware brand Kiam. Kiam also writes the model as BL-002. It is rated at 1500 W for 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz mains. The jug lifts off a 360° cordless base, and the kettle switches itself off when the water boils. It also has overheat protection.
Kiam BL002 key features
Glass jug you can see through
The jug is glass, so you can check the water level before you switch on and watch the water come to the boil.
1.8 litres per boil
The jug holds 1.8 litres. That is enough for a family tea round or an office break without refilling halfway.
1500 W, rated for 220–240 V
Kiam’s catalogue lists the BL002 at 1500 W on 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz. That range includes the 220 V household supply used in Bangladesh.
Cordless jug on a 360° base
The jug lifts off its power base, and the cord stays with the base. You can carry the jug to the table to pour, and set it back on the base facing any direction.
Auto shut-off and overheat protection
The kettle switches itself off when the water boils. It also has overheat protection. Treat both as conveniences: switch off at the socket when you have finished, and keep the kettle and its cord out of children’s reach.

Everyday problems it solves
- Checking the water level: the glass jug shows how much water is inside at a glance.

Pros and limitations
Pros
- Glass jug shows the water level and the boil.
- 1.8 litre capacity.
- Cordless jug on a 360° base.
- Switches off when the water boils, with overheat protection.
- Rated for 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz.
- From Kiam, a Bangladeshi brand founded in 1990.
Limitations
- A glass jug needs careful handling. A knock or a drop can break it.
- Box contents, glass type, plug type, cord length, dimensions and the colour we ship are not yet confirmed by us. Ask before ordering if any of these matters to you.
What you need
- A wall socket on 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz mains.
- A flat, dry surface for the power base, away from the sink and the edge of the counter.
If you are not sure the plug will fit your socket, ask us before you order.
Caring for the glass jug
We do not have Kiam’s manual for this model yet, so these are general steps for any glass electric kettle. If a manual comes in the box, follow it first.
- Unplug the base and let the kettle cool down before you clean it.
- Wipe the outside of the glass with a soft, damp cloth. Steel wool and scouring powder can scratch glass.
- Do not immerse the jug, the power base or the cord in water. Keep the connector under the jug and the base dry.
- Hard water leaves white limescale inside. To lift it, use a kettle descaler, or boil a mix of water with white vinegar or lemon juice, let it stand, then pour it away.
- Rinse the jug well, then boil fresh water once and pour it away before you make drinks again.
- Do not switch the kettle on empty, and do not pour cold water into a hot, empty glass jug.
